E. Timotheus Kamaboakai is the current National General Secretary/CEO of the Liberia YMCA. Appointed in April 2017, the New YMCA CEO has served the institution as a staff in several capacities for the past 13 years and most recently served as Development Secretary since 2012. 

Prior to becoming National General Secretary of the Liberia YMCA in May 2017, Mr. Kamaboakai held the following positions: Development Secretary or Deputy CEO, YMCA of Liberia from January 2012—April 2017 where he provided oversight and technical support to YMCA branches in Liberia - facilitating the strategic planning process, organizational development and fundraising activities for YMCA programs in these branches.

From July 2009 - July 2010 he served as International Trainer and Facilitator a long-term Training of Trainers Program for Youth Leaders in Africa and Europe implemented by the North-South Center of the Council of Europe.

From February 2009—March 2013, Timotheus Kamaboakai was Project Manager of the European Commission funded YMCA Project titled:  Supporting Youth Livelihoods and Governance in Liberia and Sierra Leone- a project implemented by Liberia and Sierra Leone YMCAs where he Provided vision and direction and facilitated the implementation of project activities in 5 counties in Liberia.

He also became a Young Professional from January —December 2008 at the World Alliance of YMCAs in Geneva, Switzerland where he provided a youth perspective to the work of the YMCA global body, serving as representative of the World Alliance to the meetings of international youth bodies and the United Nations agencies. He also provided support to senior staff in the areas of program and advocacy, communications and movement strengthening or organizational development.

From January 2006 - December 2007 he was Program Manager of the Liberia YMCA with responsibilities for Peace Building and Civic Education in the YMCA. He also provided overall program management and leadership for the YMCA peace program in 8 branches, developing grant proposals and fundraising plans for implementation of the programs etc.

 He also served the Liberia YMCA as its first Information Officer from January 2004—December 2007, managing the information dissemination programs of the YMCA. This included the supervision of 5 community radio stations, development and printing of monthly information newsletters, managing the organization's website among others.

Mr. Kamaboakai in 2016 obtained a Masters in Public Affairs (MPA) in Non-profit Management & Strategic Planning from the University of Minnesota, USA, he also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sociology & Social Work from the United Methodist University, Liberia where he obtained a degree in 2007 and a High School Diploma & WAEC certificate from the Len Millar High School, Liberia in 1998.  

Mr. Kamaboakai holds a wealth of experience in  training and conferences some of which are Get Motivated Seminar in Minnesota, USA 2016, Tools for Recovery Fundraising Campaign,  Y-Care International, United Kingdom in 2015,  Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Planning, Y-Care International Kenya in 2014, YMCA International Conference, YMCA of the USA, California USA in 2011, Peace Building and Conflict Mitigation Training Seminar, Comic Relief-UK, South Africa in 2012 , African Youth Consultations on the African Youth Charter, Council of Europe, Ethiopia in 2011, International Youth Forum & 17th World Council of YMCAs, Hong Kong in 2010,  University of Youth Training Program in Global Youth Work, Spain 2009, Living Leers Delegation to Uganda, World Council of Churches, 2008, 17th International AIDS Conference, Mexico 2008 among others.
