Liberia YMCA Launches Community Dialogue Program
The Liberia YMCA will on Thursday, January 24, 2020 launch a new peace building initiative termed: Community Dialogue for Conflict Mitigation and Reconciliation (CDRP).
The Launch will take place in the Eugene H. Cooper Conference Hall of the YMCA and will be attended by representatives from the peace building unit of the Government of Liberia and other Peace building Partners in Liberia.
The program CDRP aims to address potential violent behavior, reconciling differences, and promoting greater understanding and mutual trust in communities with intervention in Bong (Gbarnga & Totota), Bomi (Tubmanburg), Grand Gedeh (Zwedru), Lofa (Foya), Montserrado (Somalia Drive & Todee) and Nimba (Sanniquellie).
The project is a thirty six (36) months initiative that facilitates a process wherein community members and key stakeholders can address the underlying causes of conflict and trust, regain dignity and enable trust. It is also aimed at Improved capacity of communities to create an enabling environment that enhances community engagement where people are able to reconnect with one another to build trust and safety as well as increased community cohesion through conduct of community leaders' forum and high school peace clubs to build social bond and increase access to information for community members.
The project is sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the YMCA of Liberia.
