YMCA Mourns M&E Officer
Staff of the Liberia YMCA on Saturday, February 28, 2015 attended the funeral of the late John S. Karbo, who served the Liberia YMCA from 2009 to February 2015 as Monitoring and Evaluation Officer.
Mr. Karbo died in Monrovia on February 17, 2015 following a brief illness.
Delivering the homily was Reverend Father Rafael John Ariboma, Parish Priest of the Holy Innocents Parish in Monrovia.
Father Ariboma said the deceased had lived his life and the message was not for him, but rather the mourners. Father Ariboma said death is inescapable and when it comes to another person, there is less concern but when affected directly, then the reality is greatly felt.
“When death says it is time, it is time.” The Holy Innocents Parish Priest said. He challenged the mourners to seek God as the late Karbo did adding, “We do not know what is going to happen the next moment.”
“If one cannot choose God now, he or she cannot choose God at death.” Father Ariboma said.
Paying tribute on behalf of the Liberia YMCA, the National General Secretary and CEO, E. Edward Gboe said the Liberia YMCA is saddened by the passing away of one of its employees.
“Today we stand here on behalf of the Board and Staff of the Liberia YMCA to pay our tribute and console the bereaved family of the late Karbo. Despite his illness, he was emotionally stable.” The Liberia YMCA CEO said.
Several organizations including organizations within the church, friends and family paid tribute to during the funeral, describing the late Karbo as a man loved by all and who will be truly missed. He was laid to rest following funeral service in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
