YMCA: Investing in Information Technology to Empower Young People

The Development Secretary of the Liberia YMCA, E. Timotheus Kamaboakai says Liberia YMCA is investing in Information Technology to empower young people meet the employment challenges of the 21st century.


Speaking during the formal graduation program of over 450 trainees recently at the YMCA headquarters on Broad Street in Monrovia, Mr. Kamaboakai said there are plans to extend the program to other parts of the country.


“Our whole objective in this area is to ensure that young people from diverse background attain the relevant skills given, the challenges they are faced with when it comes to employment.” He said.


Mr. Kamaboakai said the YMCA’s effort in this area is not only focused in Monrovia adding the Liberia YMCA is diverging and decentralizing the computer program to other parts of the country so that young people will have IT skills. “The whole essence is for young people to also have teaching knowledge and experience to empower other young

people to have skills in the area of Information Technology.”
